The Best Tragedy Ever

On this site, I will include everything I know about Romeo and Juliet, the Elizabethan time period, and Shakespeare.  I am hoping it will impress Cavan.  This site will be based on the play Romeo and Juliet, however.  This play is a great and always will be.

I think the play Romeo and Juliet is excellent and will never go out of style for the simple fact that almost everyone can relate to it.  The play has a wide variety of characters that appeal to many different types of people.  Almost everyone can point their finger and say, "That's me," to at least one of the characters in the play.  The play has, and always will be a great.
Here is the play in a nutshell:
Romeo and Juliet come from opposing families, the Montagues and Capulets, respectively.  They meet each other at a party and immediately fall in love.  Consequently, the local friar, Friar Laurence, marries them.  Right after they are married, Romeo kills Juliet's cousin Tybalt for retribution of his friend, Mercutio's, death.  The Prince banishes Romeo from his home town, Verona, never to return.  Juliet is then forced to be married to Paris.  Juliet seeks out the Friar in search of advice.  He gives her a sleeping potion that will make it seem to others, that she is dead.  Romeo would be notified that she is, actually, not dead, but merely sleeping.  Romeo is not, however, notified of this plan; therefore, he sees no point in living life without his love and wife, Juliet.  He purchases poison from a local poor apothecary.  When he arrives at the tomb he finds Paris.  He kills Paris then drags him in the tomb.  Romeo, then kills himself next to his wife.  Juliet wakes up momentarily only to find her beloved husband dead.  She then takes Romeo's dagger and commits suicide herself.  The families, devastated by the feud, agree to stop quarreling and build monuments of Romeo and Juliet.

The movie (1968) was made to give a more vivid picture of the play.  It helps everyone understand the play better.  The movie is also very dramatic and portrays the play excellently.
